PALM is an American company that specialises in handheld computers, founded in 1992. Its name comes from the fact that these handheld computers can fit in the palm of the hand, as its name suggests. To allow other manufacturers to manufacture machines using the Palm OS operating system, Palm has decided to split into two companies. On the one hand, Palm (PalmOne between 2003 and 2005) that builds PDAs and on the other PalmSource that develops the Palm OS operating system. In 2010, HP bought the Palm brand, which then became a subsidiary of HP, before being bought by TCL, which markets smartphones under the Alcatel OneTouch brand in 2014. The latest Palm-produced phone as such is the Palm Pre 2. It is a smartphone featuring a QWERTY physical keyboard, with a 3.1-inch touch screen. It uses the HP WebOS 2.0 operating system. It has a non-expandable storage space of 16 GB, and a RAM of 512 MB. Pre 2 is equipped with a 5 MP camera with flash and can connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or 2G and 3G mobile networks. Palm has released several other smartphones, some powered by Windows Mobile, and others using their own operating system, Palm WebOS.
