The American company Amazon, based in Seattle, in the United States, specialises in electronic commerce. Created by Jeff Bezos, it was born in 1994 and began to make its mark in 1995 with the creation of the Amazon website. The name also designs products under its own brand, including tablets, electronic readers, Smartphones, etc. Originally designed to be the world's largest bookstore, Amazon began manufacturing the first Kindle reader in the 2000s. This first-generation of e-readers was equipped with a 6-inch monochrome display and a definition of 600 × 800 pixels. With an internal memory of 256 megabytes, the device is capable of storing about two hundred books digitized, bought and downloaded on Amazon's platform. The e-reader then evolved with Kindle DX, Kindle Touch, Kindle Fire, all running under Linux operating system. About the touch screen tablets, those of the Fire range are the basic model tablets with a good value for money. The Fire HD 10 model, released after the Fire HD 8, is just a bit bigger than this one. Its IPS screen of 10.1" is accompanied by a quad-core processor that can go up to 1.5GHz, with a RAM of 1.5GB. The tablet is available in 16GB or 32GB internal storage. Amazon tablets have come a long way in just a few short years, and are still continuing their journey towards innovation.
