Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016), the good deal

One year after the Galaxy J5, Samsung launches its new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy J3, released in January 2016. The J3 is available in single SIM or dual SIM models. It features a super AMOLED 5-inch screen with a display of 720 x 1280 pixels. This smartphone is powered by Android 5.1.1, and is since valid for the 6.0 update. It is supported by a quad-core Spreadtrum SC9830 processor. As for the storage, it has 8 GB or 16 GB internal memory, which can reach 256 GB thanks to a micro SD card, for 1.5 GB or 2 GB of RAM respectively. The J3 is equipped with an 8-megapixel camera capable of capturing videos at 720p, and a 5-megapixel secondary camera.

A mid-range smartphone, with bonuses, but which is pretty fragile

In addition to its largely affordable price, the Samsung Galaxy J3 shows some interesting qualities. As for the design, it looks more or less like the flagship of the brand, the Samsung Galaxy S7, with a screen of the same size, namely 5 inches. It also includes some high-end features, such as its highly colourful super AMOLED screen. The J3 is a thin phone, but also very light. This is partly due to the plastic alloy of the lid of its battery, but for the cheap phone that it is, this is not a disaster. The lifetime of the battery is quite consistent and the J3 also takes beautiful photos in daylight, despite a rather poor execution speed. As for performance, it has been expected that the Galaxy J3 was not going to achieve feats, but it still enjoys a fairly recent Android update, which is interesting.
